Introduction
Hello, I am Hn.U, an artist who wishes to revolve alongside your life’s orbit and offer a fresh perspective through my art.
Deeply inspired by the intricate linework and dreamlike elements of Ukiyo-e, I craft ethereal compositions that transport viewers to an entirely new world.
In today’s society, where the opinions of others often overshadow our own, I strive to convey a message of self-empowerment and self-love—reminding everyone that they are the true masters of their lives.
My work draws upon the vast spectrum of human emotions and experiences, aiming to provide comfort and encouragement to those navigating life’s challenges.
Through my creations, I invite you to pause, reflect, and immerse yourself in a world where every detail tells a unique story. Let my art be a warm embrace and a window to new perspectives.
Creative Philosophy
The modern world is changing at an incredible pace. In an era overflowing with information and constant comparisons, we often find ourselves defining who we are based on the evaluations and standards of others rather than our own. In response to this reality, I strive to convey a belief through my work: "The meaning and purpose of life must be chosen and created by oneself."
Life is a brief journey between the points of birth and death. However, no one can predict when that journey will come to an end. In this uncertain and finite span of time, what should we hold most dear? What values should guide us? My work begins with these fundamental questions. And the conclusion I have reached is simple yet profound: "The value of life can only be defined by oneself."
My art is not just a collection of visuals to admire. It exists to provide comfort and courage to those who feel lost and to offer a new perspective for navigating life. I hope that those who encounter my work can pause, reflect on their own experiences, and discover their personal stories within it.
I aspire for my art to go beyond a mere visual experience and become a warm companion in the lives of those who view it. I hope my creations can orbit alongside their lives, shining a light on new possibilities and inspiration.
"Hn.U in your ORBIT" – this phrase is not just a slogan. It is a heartfelt invitation to connect with my audience. My art aims to be a window into the essence of life, guiding viewers to rediscover its core and uncover new potential. In this short journey we all share, I hope my work can provide even a small source of comfort and inspiration in your life.
Thank you.
Methods of Expression
As a child, I was captivated by picture books, especially the illustrations of Hans de Beer, which sparked my dream of becoming an artist. I would replicate his drawings, and this experience laid the foundation for my artistic vision. Storytelling became a core element of my work, with the goal of creating pieces that allow viewers to project their own emotions and narratives.
Throughout my journey, I’ve drawn inspiration from Vincent van Gogh and Salvador Dalí, whose passionate strokes and surreal worlds showed me the depth of artistic expression. I also found beauty in the delicate lines of Ukiyo-e and the serene detail of traditional Korean painting, combining these influences to craft a style that is both accessible and unique.
I continue to grow by observing, experimenting, and reflecting. For me, art is the sum of all I’ve felt and experienced. Through this journey, I hope my work resonates deeply, offering more than visual beauty—a connection to the heart.
A figure of a hollow-headed human
The artist aims for viewers to fully project their own circumstances onto the work, encouraging immersion in the artistic world through Nietzsche’s nihilistic perspective. This approach invites the audience to set aside external influences and focus solely on the pure connection between themselves and the artwork.
A black ocean universe and dreamlike mountains
The black ocean represents the reality we live in, while the white space symbolizes our spiritual realm. The dreamlike mountains evoke a sense that the space we inhabit belongs to a different dimension.
Signature Sun
The sun depicted in the artwork symbolizes that the space belongs to the artist's world. It signifies the artist's omniscient involvement in the events within the piece.
